A Study for Semi-passive Gravity Gradiei'jt Stabilization of Small Satellites

This paper gives the results of a dynamical analysis of the Globesat gravity gradient stabilized satellite in a 500 km circular orbit. The linearized equations of motion are developed and the stability of the satellite is investigated. The satellite is equipped with magnetic torquers for the purpose of providing attitude correction torques. These correction torques can be used to effect large c...

Collision Orbits for a Hill’s Type Problem

We study the planar problem of two satellites attracted by a center of force. Assuming that the center of mass of the two-satellite system is on a circular orbit around the center of force and using Levi-Civita regularization we prove the existence of an almost periodic orbit with an infinite number of collision between the satellites.

Stress Patterns in Single Deck Floating Roofs Subjected to Ground Motion Accelerations

This paper investigates the induced stresses in circular single deck roofs floating on seismically excited storage tanks. Equations of motion are derived using variational principle. Response of deck floating roofs is evaluated for two different classes of ground motions; near-source and long-period far-field records. Besides time histories and frequency contents for a specific tank, peak value...

Symbolic-Numeric Investigation of the Aerodynamic Forces Influence on Satellite Dynamics

An approach for symbolic-numeric stability analysis of equilibrium orientations of a satellite in a circular orbit under the influence of gravitational and aerodynamic forces is considered. The stationary motions of a satellite are governed by a system of nonlinear algebraic equations. A computer algebra method based on an algorithm for the construction of a Groebner basis and the resultant con...

Analytical solution of perturbed circular motion: application to satellite geodesy

Starting from the analytical theory of perturbed circular motions presented in Celestial Mechanics (Bois 1994) and from specific extended formulations of the perturbations in a uniformly rotating plane of constant inclination, this paper presents an extended formulation of the solution. The actual gain made through this extension is the establishment of a firstorder predictive theory written in...
